ATMOS Space Cargo, a Lichtenau-based company, is at the forefront of orbital transport and re-entry vehicles. Founded in 2021, the company has been working tirelessly to establish Europe's first routine orbital return infrastructure. The financing round, which includes participation from the European Innovation Council (EIC) through its Accelerator programme, will enable ATMOS Space Cargo to transition from demonstration to routine operations.



The company's PHOENIX vehicle family, comprising reusable orbital transfer and return vehicles (OTRVs), is designed for autonomous cargo operations. Following the successful PHOENIX 1 demonstration flight in April 2025, ATMOS Space Cargo is now constructing and operating three PHOENIX 2 orbital transfer and return vehicles as part of a phased operational mission campaign. These vehicles will service institutional and commercial clients across a range of payload and mission profiles.
